Can you work from the AV integrator's drawings?

Yes — this is our preferred workflow. Share the AV integrator's cable schedule and room drawings with us, and we'll pull exactly what they specify, terminate to their requirements, and label to their convention. We coordinate directly with integrators we work with regularly.

Do you install conduit for AV cable runs?

Yes. We install EMT, PVC, and flexible conduit for AV pathways in ceilings, walls, and equipment rooms — properly sized for the cable bundle and future additions.

What's the difference between balanced and unbalanced audio cable?

Balanced audio (XLR or TRS) uses two signal conductors and a shield to reject common-mode noise — essential for long runs in electrically noisy environments. Unbalanced (RCA, TS) is fine for short runs. We specify and route the appropriate type based on your system design.

Can you install in an existing finished building without damaging walls?

In most cases, yes. We use low-voltage old-work boxes, fish tape, and wall-fishing techniques to route cable through existing framed walls without cutting drywall. We also offer surface-mount raceway where in-wall routing isn't practical.

Do you coordinate with the electrical contractor on power for displays?

We coordinate the AV cabling scope and mark display mounting locations to assist the electrical contractor with outlet placement — but electrical work is performed by a licensed electrician, not by our team.

Use case: Direct display connections up to 10 meters
Supports: 4K@120Hz, 8K@60Hz, eARC, VRR
Best for: Display mounting within 10m of source (wall plates, in-wall runs to ceiling-mount projectors).

Longer runs require active HDMI cables or signal extension. We spec the correct product for your distance.

HDBaseT (Cat6 / Cat6A)

Use case: HDMI extension over structured cabling up to 100m
Supports: 4K video, audio, RS-232, IR, power (PoH) over a single Cat6 cable
Best for: Conference rooms, training rooms, large display walls, boardrooms.

The most common AV extension technology in commercial installs — works with your existing cabling infrastructure.

AV-over-IP (Network Cat6A)

Use case: Video distribution over standard IP network infrastructure
Supports: Unlimited distance (network-dependent), matrix switching via software
Best for: Multi-room digital signage, large campus deployments, enterprise video walls.

AV-over-IP is replacing dedicated AV matrix switchers in large installations — requires proper network segmentation (VLAN, IGMP snooping).

Audio Cable (Balanced & Speaker)

Use case: Microphone runs, line-level audio, and ceiling speaker distribution
Supports: Shielded twisted pair for balanced audio, 2-conductor for speakers
Best for: Conference room mics, paging systems, background music, auditoriums.

Balanced audio cable (XLR/TRS) must be routed away from power and data — we design pathways accordingly.

There's an important distinction: Sprinter installs the cabling infrastructure that AV systems run on. We are not an AV integrator — we don't program Crestron systems or configure Extron switchers. What we do is provide the conduit, cable, wall plates, rack pathways, and structured wiring that your AV integrator expects to find in place when they arrive. We work directly with your AV partner's drawings and spec sheets to ensure our infrastructure matches their equipment requirements — so they can focus on the technology, not the cabling.
