Fiber Optic Cabling — From Single Building to Multi-Campus

Sprinter designs and installs single-mode and multi-mode fiber for backbone infrastructure, inter-building connectivity, and high-bandwidth applications — fusion spliced, OTDR tested, and fully documented.

Single-Mode vs Multi-Mode — Choosing the Right Fiber for Your Project

Single-Mode (OS2)

Long Distance
Wavelength
1310nm / 1550nm
Distance
Up to 40km+ with appropriate transceivers
Core diameter
9 micron
Typical cost
Higher per foot, lower cost at long distances
Connector types
LC, SC, ST (LC most common)
Best for

Campus backbone between buildings, WAN links, inter-facility connectivity, telco handoffs.

Required when runs exceed 300m or when single-strand WDM is planned.

Multi-Mode (OM3 / OM4 / OM5)

Most Common
Wavelength
850nm / 1300nm
Distance
Up to 300m (OM3), 400m (OM4) at 10G; 100m at 40G/100G
Core diameter
50 micron (OM3/4/5)
Typical cost
Lower per foot, practical for intra-building backbone
Connector types
LC, SC (LC most common)
Best for

MDF to IDF backbone, data center interconnects, intra-building high-speed links.

OM4 or OM5 recommended for all new installations.

Scope of Work

Our Fiber Optic Scope of Work

Fusion Splicing

Precision fusion splicing for permanent, low-loss fiber joints. We carry field fusion splicers on every fiber job — no mechanical splice substitutions.

OTDR Testing

Optical Time Domain Reflectometer testing characterizes every span — splice loss, connector loss, total attenuation, and fault location. You get the full trace file.

Pre-Terminated Assemblies

For speed-sensitive installations, we use MTP/MPO pre-terminated trunk cables with field-verified polarity.

Fiber Enclosures & Panels

Wall-mount and rack-mount fiber enclosures, LC/SC patch panels, and splice trays — neatly dressed and clearly labeled.

Indoor & Outdoor Runs

Riser, plenum, and armored fiber for indoor applications. Direct-burial and aerial lashing for outdoor runs between buildings.

Fiber-to-the-Desk

Single-mode or multi-mode fiber runs to high-performance workstations, editing suites, or where EMI makes copper impractical.

Applications

Where We Run Fiber

Campus Backbone

Connecting MDF to remote IDFs across a multi-building campus.

Data Center Interconnects

High-density inter-rack and cross-connect fiber in server rooms.

Security Camera Backbones

Fiber uplinks from camera clusters to the core network — eliminates distance limits of copper.

Manufacturing Plants

EMI-immune runs across factory floors near VFDs and large motors.

Healthcare Campuses

Backbone connecting multiple clinical buildings with deterministic latency.

Outdoor / Direct-Burial

Between buildings, parking structures, or across parking lots.
